Here's our favorite picture of the proud grandparents and the gleeful Squeaker:

Maeve treated Grammy and Grampy to a good time, but she has a lot left to show them during future visits. On Friday afternoon, we all went for a walk in nearby Manito Park and then came home to cook up some scampi for dinner. On Saturday, we visited Lynn and Larry, our friends from work, who were having a party that afternoon. On Sunday, we drove to the Bowl and Pitcher rock formation along the banks of the Spokane River in Riverside State Park, a few miles northwest of downtown. Brian and his dad took a walk to the overlook above the river:

We had some delicious food at the Italian Kitchen for dinner that evening, and Maeve, who normally can't keep her eyes open after around 6:30 or 7 p.m., managed to stay up past her bedtime without serious complaint. On Monday, Tracey and Brian went to work in the early afternoon, and Mary and Terry drove out to Cheney to visit a few hours later, strolling around campus and having a chance "hello" encounter with the president. Back home in Spokane that evening, our attempted cookout turned into a cook-in when we ran out of propane. No biggie, just a brief delay during the transition. On Tuesday morning, Brian caught the early bus to work as usual, and Tracey saw Brian's parents off in the late morning before heading to work, too.
We all enjoyed the visit, and Maeve was her usual smiling, laughing, good-natured self.
Maeve looks so beautiful with her grandparents. They look totally enamoured with her. Now that's a good looking family, the genes don't lie!
