On our first, jet-lagged day in Japan, Tiffany and Aaron brought us to
Asakusa Shrine and Temple. It's a part of Tokyo famous for retaining its old-Tokyo feel. You approach the temple on the Nakamise, which is a lane crowded with vendors on both sides. We were a bit overwhelmed (adjusting to crowded, humid Tokyo!), so we didn't do any shopping, although there were many wonderful items for sale. Here's a picture of the three of us in front of the main temple and another of the shrine:

We wandered the local streets for a bit, enjoying the old feel. Here are some pictures of the street scene:

Tiffany strolling with her baby girl, Maeve (!):
Rhett (at 13 months) walking behind
his stroller:

A street monkey after a performance. Note his jacket and pants!:

Lastly, here's Maeve chilling out in her stroller, checking out the scene:
Hey you three! From the last picture it's hard to believe that Maeve isn't part... Japanese... looks like her grandpa (lost uncle??) in the backgrund there. Seems you three are having a grand adventure with the T&M clan. So jealous. My big trip to Germany is coming soon... but not soon enough! Sayanora for now! Big hugs (is Rhett the little cutie or what? Such a gentleman pushing the stroller...). xoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWhy are the monkey and that woman Tiffany both wearing green shirts? Are they a team or something?
