Squeaker in Denver

We took a family trip to Denver, March 6-9, where Brian attended the Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS) conference. Tracey and Maeve came along because Brian's brother Jim and his wife, Michelle, live in Littleton, about 15 miles from downtown Denver, and because two of Tracey's friends from her online mothers' group—Robin and Heather—live in Denver. We had our second chance, after last summer's California trip, to visit them in person.

Robin was a great help when we arrived on Thursday evening, picking us up at the airport and hosting dinner with her husband, Jeremy. Heather and her husband, Jeff, along with their three boys, and Jeremy's sister and her two sons also came for the fun and the delicious dinner, and then Robin dropped us off at our hotel downtown. Maeve held her own admirably as the only girl and one of the youngest in the gang of kids. Here she is with Heather's youngest son, Ryan, and Robin's boy, Avery:

This brief video gives just a taste of the manic mood in the downstairs playroom before dinner:

On Saturday evening, we took the light rail to Littleton for dinner with Jim and Michelle. Here they are having fun with their favorite niece (apologies to Kara and Meghan):

One of Maeve's recent favorite activities is walking on sloped surfaces and climbing steps. We took her to a small downtown park after lunch on Sunday, where she had a great time walking up and down this little "hill." Mountain hiking awaits, just a few years from now:

The conference was held at the Brown Palace, a beautiful historic hotel in the center of Denver. Here are Tracey and Maeve as we were getting ready to leave for the airport on Sunday:
