The Squeaker Has a Linguistic Explosion!

As the books promised, Squeaker's experiencing a linguistic explosion: new words every day! Not only does she (seemingly) understand EVERYTHING we say, she's starting to repeat words after we say them, as if trying them out.

Some of her favorites, old and new:
  • shoooooes
  • buckle
  • baoon (ballon)
  • bahl! (ball, always said with an exclamation point)
  • pees (please)
  • dee doo (thank you—often when handing us something that she knows we're supposed to have, like the phone)
  • doggy
  • kii kat
  • hellooellelelle (making weird tongue sounds when she pretends she's on the phone)
  • all done
  • strawberry (we're taking out a second mortgage to afford her favorites)
  • apple
  • grapes (the kid loves fruit)
  • eyes
  • teeth
  • knees
  • NO! NO!
And the one word we hear more than anything else these days, often said in a high-pitched monkey-ish shriek: MINE!

  1. Huh. That's pretty much my daily vocabulary, too...

  2. I just bought 28 pounds of strawberries up at Greenbluff. I am understanding Maeve's love of them. :) She's pretty amazing!
