Welcome, Declan!

Our little squeaker number two—Declan Terrence—arrived early on Monday morning, July 21, just before 2 a.m., about six days after his expected due date. Here he is at around 10 hours old:

And here we all are together, later that day after lunch:

Our friend Lynn was generous and kind enough to stay at our house after Maeve went to bed and we headed for the hospital on Sunday night and then to get Maeve up, fed, dressed, and ready for daycare on Monday morning. She came by the house with Maeve after work on Monday afternoon to pick up Dad and drive down to the hospital so Maeve could meet the new family member:

Mom and Declan came home on Tuesday afternoon, and both are doing well. Maeve only occasionally notices her little brother, but she's definitely aware of him when he's affecting her world, like being on Mom's lap when she decides she wants to be there. Dad has been taking vacation time off, so his main job is to entertain Maeve, which is just fine with him. It sure beats office work. And we're all very happy to have Declan home with us.
