Squeaker (and Parents) Adjusting

So many people have asked, "How is Maeve handling the new addition?" The answer is: as well as a formerly only child and soon-to-be two year old can. In short, not that well! She whines and cries to be held a lot more these days, especially if one of us is holding Declan, which is most of the time. If she sees that he is eating, she suddenly wants her bottle. While she mostly just comments on what he's doing, along the lines of "Declan's sleeping" or "Declan's crying," she does sometimes try to help. Which mostly means putting a blanket over him, including his face, and patting him quite firmly. Or one day she climbed on the table where he was sitting in his bouncy seat and put a bite of peanut butter sandwich in his mouth. Things like that.

We're all four still alive, but why didn't someone warn us how challenging two kids under two would be? I guess we wouldn't have listened.

  1. I believe that your brothers with children and their subsequent exhaustion should have beeen a clue as to how challenging kids under 2 are. if nothing else your mother would have been a good start. Hope thigs are getting better.
