Whatcha Talking about, Maeve?

This week, Maeve has started to say some new words. She mostly jabbers still, in what sounds to her mother's trained ear to be Chinese, but more and more frequently, we can both hear clear English words!

Until now, her repertoire has consisted mostly of the following:
  • bahhh (ball)
  • kii kat (kitty cat)
  • kah (cat)
  • Dada (you know who)
  • Hey, Dada (greeting Daddy)
  • hiiiiiii! (hi)
  • biiiiiii! (bye)

But in the last week or so, she's added these:
  • Mama (finally!)
  • Whas dat?
  • nees (knees)
  • tee (teeth)
  • tee tah (teeter totter)
  • see sah (see saw: Her daycare teachers are helping her maintain her dad's northeastern lexicon by teaching her to say "see saw" instead of "teeter totter.")

And Mommy's personal favorite: pink shooooos, for her beloved pink Pedipeds.

This is only the beginning! We can't wait to hear what else she has to say.

  1. It is cruel how long it takes them to learn "Mama," isn't it? I'm impressed that she's already working on synonyms (kitty cat and cat; teeter totter and see saw). --Debbie
